Flowing with natures rhythm
Flowing with the rhythm of mother nature…
Isn’t it interesting how we human beings are always trying to defy the rhythm of mother earth. Making it light when it’s dark, dark when it’s light, air conditioning making it cold when it’s really hot and heaters blasting all winter long.
This has come to my attention more and more in the past few years especially in the last few months. The natural law of nature is that we flow with what is, that we are aware of our climate, season and time of day. Keeping it simple, rise with the sun and set with the moon. There is so much joy to be had in allowing ourselves the time to switch off at night, turn off the computer, television, phones and any other applications that pull us into the 24 hour fast paced world of technology.
Slowing down, taking the time to enjoy our meal with family, lighting candles as the sun sets rather than lighting up the house with bright lights. Allow ourselves to experience the darkness, the beauty and softness of candle light. Rising early enough to watch the sun come up and feel our own rising within, awakening to a new day, full of opportunity and intentions. Rhythm is such an important part of our daily lives and when we have a familiar routine our nervous system can relax, we have a sense of what to expect, and can soften into that.
My son and I have decided to say grace each time we sit down to eat a meal as a family. This is something that makes us both feel grateful for what we are about to consume but also grateful for the time together as a family, grateful for the farmers who tilled the earth, grateful to the animal whose qualities we will take on as we eat, and grateful for the health that will come from eating whole and delicious foods.
To flow with the rhythm of nature is to be in touch with the rhythms of nature and with the rhythm inside of yourself.
Look to the earth, there we will find the most innate intelligence that will point us in the right direction, towards balance, joy and connection.
Tonight as you sit down for dinner, light a candle, say thank you for the food and step outside to see the stars. We are but a tiny part of the most infinite expansion.
