Surrender? How do we do that?

What does it mean to surrender? This is something i’ve been pondering for some time, actually many, many years and especially since becoming a mother. What does surrender look like, feel like, sound like?? Some things that have come up for me are… Going with the flow, getting out of my own my own way, allowing others to be exactly who they are without the need to change them, staying out of other peoples business, questioning stressful thoughts, giving up the fight! Breathe…LET GO OF THE HABITUAL PATTERN OF STRESS….a...

Home made Granola

I first came across this recipe in Sarah Wilson’s ‘I Quit Sugar’ book. If you don’t have a copy I highly recommend it. It’s simple and delicious and you’ll have a weeks supply of granola. I have changed the recipe slightly to include honey and oats, however you can leave both out. Enjoy x Ingredients: 3 cups of coconut chips or shredded coconut 2 – 3 cups of a mix of nuts and seeds, for example: almonds, cashews, walnuts, hazelnuts and pepitas. 3 tablespoons of chia seeds 1 cup of oats (optional) 100...

Amazingly delicious chocolate slice

I recently met with my lovely peer coach, Lee Sutherland from ‘Fitness in the City’ http://fitnessinthecity.com.au She had made a delicious chocolate short bread slice which I devoured with some peppermint tea. I’m so loving that it’s so easy to make yummy alternatives that are healthy and delicious, satisfying that ‘sweet tooth’ that so many of us have. So here it is, a great recipe that is also easy to make! Shortbread ingredients: 1 cup cashews ( I highly recommend soaking your cashews first overnight) 1...

Celebrating Mothers!

It’s Mothers Day…..What does that mean to you? I know some of you might say it’s just another opportunity for hallmark to make some money….granted this is true, but  who cares! Mothers are people that I spend a lot of time with, especially at The LifePod, and I love them! Mothers deserve to be celebrated for their passion, love, commitment, hard work, the fire in their bellies, the late nights, the hustle to get the job done, whatever the job is….the mile long ‘to do’ list, the house work, the job...

LifePod Living daily Practices…

What can we do each day to connect with our natural state of bliss and joy? This has been something that I have been giving a lot of attention lately as my own life gets, at times, out of control with ‘to do’ lists, plans and work. I remind myself…each day is another opportunity to live fully, feel passionately and enjoy this precious life. I have been reading a great book, ‘The Chemistry of Calm‘, written by Henry Emmons, in it Henry describes a three breath meditation that is so simple and can be done anytime...

Flowing with natures rhythm

Flowing with natures rhythm

Flowing with the rhythm of mother nature… Isn’t it interesting how we human beings are always trying to defy the rhythm of mother earth. Making it light when it’s dark, dark when it’s light, air conditioning making it cold when it’s really hot and heaters blasting all winter long. This has come to my attention more and more in the past few years especially in the last few months. The natural law of nature is that we flow with what is, that we are aware of our climate, season and time of day. Keeping it simple,...

Vanessa Mitchell

Vanessa has been a yoga devotee for over 20 years. She came to realize the full spectrum of the emotional, spiritual and physical benefits of her yoga practice while living in NYC in the late 90’s. Working and living in such an amazing, energetic, non-stop city was at times enriching but also very depleting. Yoga taught Vanessa the importance of balance in life and the need for quiet moments to touch base with what was important to her. Inspired by her own teacher – a 72 year old graceful, strong and beautiful instructor, she was hooked...
